I live and write in coastal Virginia. I have had several jobs in my life, careers some, but none of them define me the way writer does.
Most ordinary days are not ordinary at all but filled with the sounds and images of poetry and prose as they drift on a breeze, float on waves or echo in train whistles. I am seldom bored and almost never nap.
I believe that poets are not inventors but thieves. We do not so much create as openly pilfer verdant images from countryside, trilling melody from birds, and sweetness from lovers lips, fruit blossoms and the giggles of babies. Come, see what I have stolen.
In my novels I try to explore what we want in life and in relationships. More specifically how we resolve what seems to conflict with our preception of life, how we delineate things. Maybe these are high goals, maybe just cheap therapy.
Please send me an email. I'd love to hear your reaction to what you have read or tell me about what you are creating. Or maybe you want to explore life together?
